Meet the New Intern!

Yo! My name is Eboni Jackson, and I'm the newest intern at Larika Page The Collection!

I'm 22, a Capricorn, and a senior(soon-to-be-graduate) at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. It's no surprise that my major is fashion design, well, the full title is: Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design, but that's really long. I've always been interested in fashion, when I was little I'd re-draw my favorite cartoon characters with better clothes. I've always been a creative right-brain oriented person, I LOVE to draw, and it's usually what I'm doing in my spare time.

When I told my mom that I wanted to major in fashion, I thought she'd fly off the handle and say stuff like: "That's not a real major," or "How are you gonna find a proper job with that?", but to my surprise she told me that she thought it was an excellent idea and that she knew that fashion was what I wanted to pursue. She also told me that it was what she originally wanted to major in when she went to college, but my grandfather talked her out of it. I had always seen her drawings(which were freaking amazing) but I didn't know she had dreamed of a fashion-oriented career at some point in her life. My dad wasn't hard to convince either, he told me, "Don't be afraid to follow your dreams, or you'll be stuck with a horrible job asking 'What if' for the rest of your life."

I owe a great deal to my parents for encouraging me and for also having impeccable fashion sense, they're actually part of my ever-growing inspiration. I get inspired by a lot of different things and people, but what designer doesn't? I have a short list of favorite designers and labels, though: Balmain, Belstaff, Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Vera Bradley, Etro, and Kenzo. I also have a few style crushes who inspire me, Lupita Nyong'o being the biggest one right now, but also Solange Knowles, Emma Stone, Zendaya Coleman, Jared Leto,  and A$AP Rocky.

I think I'd describe my personal style as business casual with a slight edge. I'm not above pairing a crisp button down with combat boots, a leather jacket, and a bow-tie(which I do tie myself). I have a lot of cardigans and button downs, as well biker boots and oxford shoes. I like a clean-cut style with splashes of excitement(neons, crazy prints, leather, etc).

I'm super excited about joining the team! I can't wait to get some hands on experience with pattern-making, draping(hopefully), doing line-sheets, working backstage at fashion shows and photo shoots, and making fashion illustrations. I'm humble, I'm a fast learner and I'm always up for trying something new, so I'm sure I'll fit right in!
